Today is Industrial Workers of the World Day – Industrial workers are a lot less common than they used to be, due to the modernisation of industry and the large increase of machinery replacing them. It has been said that ‘technology could potentially replace workers for 80% of current jobs’, and it is easy to overlook the role industry workers play in our businesses and economies.
Industrial Workers of the World Day draws attention to these workers and to their importance in producing the goods and products we buy and rely on everyday.
However, many products are still made in the UK by workers without machinery. Western Industrial have been supporting the industry by supplying over 20,000 of these products. For example, school lockers, hinged padlock parking posts, filing cabinets and industrial seating, are just a select few of products made in the UK.
